Ogoni Clean-up: Minister lauds HYPREP on initiative

The Honorable Minister of State Environment, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Jibril, has expressed the Federal Government’s satisfaction over the ongoing Ogoni free medical outreach programme, an initiative of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP).
Jibril made the commendation  at Gokana General hospital Terabor, where he witnessed over 40 Ogoni indigenes undergo surgical operations free of charge, courtesy of the HYPREP medical initiative.
During the visit to the hospital, the Honourable Minister was also conducted round the various medical wards and departments of the hospital by Dr Dekil, where various ailments are been treated.
He said; “This medical outreach was approved by President Buhari, and from data available to us since it began, I’m aware, well over 10,000 persons have benefited from the program. I think we’re pleased with the progress so far made, and the Federal government is satisfied with the performance of the HYPREP Coordinator”.
Thereafter, the Project Coordinator of HYPREP, Dr. Marvin Dekil, led Alhaji Jibril and his team to a courtesy call on the King of Gokana in Council. At the Palace of the GbereMene Gokana, the Honourable Minister solicited the cooperation of the Royal fathers and the people towards the success of the CleanUp programme.
Responding on behalf of the GbereMene in Council, chairman Gokana divisional Council of Chiefs HRH Mene Tekuru thanked Mr President for appointing their Son as Project Coordinator, HYPREP. He assured the federal government of their cooperation to the overall success of the project.
