Niger Delta: Ministry empowers women, youth in region

The Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs (MNDA) has trained 90 women and youths of the region and empowered them with N500,000 each as start-up capital.

In a statement from the ministry, a Deputy Director, Mr. Philip Ndiomu, who represented  the minister, Usani Uguru, at the disbursement of the start-up capital in Calabar, Cross River State, said that the beneficiaries drawn from the various states in the region were trained in fishery and poultry production to be able to contribute to the region and nation’s food security.

One hundred and eighty Bakassi indigenes had earlier benefitted from the same programme which is continuous, according to the minister. He charged them to establish themselves to contribute to the training of other Niger Deltansto make them more productive.
